GROUP CAMP VENUE in MARGARET RIVER

 

Enjoy the world class mountain bike trails, awesome bush walking, amazing cave systems, rugged beaches, flowing rivers and gushing brooks and the majestic forests as they vividly come to life with the winter rains. Cosy up by the campfire and enjoy Margaret River at its best.


Camp or stay in the dorm rooms, safari tents or cabins amidst the tall timber of the surrounding National Park.  Surrounded by bush walking & mountain bike trails, and a short walk to town, Wharncliffe Mill is a great base to explore Margaret River. You can even book exclusive use of the entire facility from May to September.  Exclusive use is also available in summer for very large groups… or those with a larger budget!!!


Currently on site we have:

  • A HUGE outdoor undercover area (former saw mill) with lots of space to eat, meet, run activities or relax with seating, large BBQ’s, stage area, camp fires, ping pong etc
  • 2 Ablution blocks and 2 camp kitchens allowing separate zones (or separation of schools from other guests)
  • Group catering kitchen (for guests who wish to self-cater or bring in their own caterer)
  • Café /kiosk and commercial kitchen -  with all meals able to be provided on request from $35 per person per day
  • Whiteboard, projector and screen available for hire (bond applies) for movies or presentations
  • Communal camp fire pits plus a large bush amphitheatre & group fire pit – seats 40 +
  • Modern clean ablution facilities with hot showers, flushing toilets  and universal access facilities
  • Nature play space with NEW climbing forest and lawn area
  • Sensory trail, walk trails, mountain bike trails and mountain bike hire available
  • On site eco and cultural education programs (provided by DPaW and Koomal Dreaming)
  • Best practice sustainability practices in place and on display including waste water re-use, solar power generation, rain water catchment, food garden, recycling and energy saving initiatives
  • Onsite managers on hand for assistance
  • Great locally roasted Yahava coffee sold at onsite café & comfy accommodation options for those who require it!

Accommodation Options:

  • 1 x 26 bed dorm,  1 x 12 bed dorm and 3 x 4 bed dorms
  • 40 campsites with power and water available
  • 4 x lodge rooms with a double and single bed in each room (the lodge has a kitchen, lounge and 2 bathrooms)
  • 3 x 2 bedroom cabins – double bed in 1 room and 2 sets of bunks in the other
  • 5 x Safari tents (with a queen bed and a set of bunks)

Group rates are not usually available weekends, school holidays or public holidays except by negotiation depending on group size, time of year and duration of stay.


*Schools, local residents and community groups are eligible for discounted rates if they sign up for our eco-challenge – water and energy use restrictions will apply.

Groups can request exclusive use of the entire facility for a surcharge of $350 per group per night plus the applicable per person rate.  Minimum nightly rate (including surcharge and per person rate) for exclusive use is $750 per night in winter (1 May to 25 September) and $1,250 per night in summer (26 September to 30 April). Excludes weekends, school holidays and public holidays which are by negotiation depending on group size, time of year and duration of stay.


Bring your own linen, blankets and pillows or hire for $10 per person (must be booked in advance). Some basic cutlery, crockery, pots, pans etc can be supplied on request (a bond may apply).  


Camping rate for unpowered camping, add $4 per power outlet per night for power if required.


 IMPORTANT:  POLICIES AND RULES

  • All guests must be quiet after 9pm (does not apply exclusive use groups).  The mill building and kitchen may not be used after 9pm and lights will be switched off (on timer).
  • Showers must be restricted to 4 minutes per person/ day to conserve water & all lights turned off when not needed. Power is not to be used for electric heating or cooling.
  • All vehicles must register at office on arrival. Visitors who are not overnight guests must park vehicles behind the office and must not stay later than 9pm.  All vehicles must travel no faster than 5 kph around the facility at all times.
  • Check-in 2pm, Check-out 10am. Day use fees of 25% of nightly rate apply for early check-in, late check-out (subject to availability) or any extra visitors not staying overnight.
  • Dorms must be swept prior to departure and ablutions, mill, kitchen and all dishes must be kept clean & tidy or cleaning charges at $35 per hour will apply.
  • No food or drink is to be taken into or consumed in the dorms. This includes snacks and confectionary.
  • Camping rates do include access to the dorms. Additional costs apply if access to dorms is requested for storage etc.
  • All group bookings subject to $200 non-refundable deposit, due within two weeks of booking. Full payment to be made 14 days prior to arrival. Cancellations, amendments and final numbers must be notified in writing no less than 14 days prior to arrival.
