Day use

Community groups and schools are encouraged to consider Wharncliffe Mill as a venue for a day visit or lunch.  Facilities are only available when we do not have an exclusive group in, so please call ahead to check availability.  Day use charges of $4 per person apply (10am to 2pm), though can be waived at the discretion of management for Margaret River schools and community service groups.

Community sponsorships

Wharncliffe Mill would be delighted to have the opportunity to review proposals from Margaret River residents, clubs, associations, schools and charities for sponsorships, donations or discounts.

Indigenous groups and individuals are invited to apply for free day use or discounted overnight stay rates at Wharncliffe Mill to undertake training, conservation and cultural engagement initiatives in the regions National Parks.

Please submit your request in writing by email outlining the type of support you are seeking, the value of this support and the positive impact it will have on the Margaret River community.

Requests will be assessed on their value and potential return (in terms of community benefits) and prioritised in line with our community sponsorships budget.  All requests will be responded to within 10 business days.

Community events and conservation groups/volunteers

Wharncliffe Mill is an ideal venue for community events.   Venue hire discounts will be offered for community events which can demonstrate a clear community benefit or conservation groups doing volunteer work in the area. Discounts will be in line with the potential return or benefit to the community and the nature of the event.

Events which result in positive conservation, cultural or environmental outcomes are encouraged to discuss opportunities with us.

Local resident’s discounts and open days

All Margaret River residents are offered a 15% discount off our accommodation and camping rates (excluding long weekends, school holidays and special events) when staying for three or more nights.  This discount also applies when booking accommodation for family and friends who are visiting as long as they agree to participate in the Eco-challenge.  Just show proof of permanent address on check-in to receive your discount or have it applied to the booking of your family and friends (direct bookings only).

We would like to encourage Margaret River residents to share their thoughts and suggestions for the ongoing growth and development of Wharncliffe Mill.  Please email us or call to discuss.

Indigenous employment

Operators Claire and Adrian Prendergast have worked extensively with Indigenous businesses and Indigenous people for the last ten years. We have in depth experience in employment and training Indigenous youth and would welcome applications from Indigenous people to join our small team of staff or take on a traineeship.  Currently we are looking for applications for School Based Traineeships, though would also like to hear from Indigenous people who may be interested in casual guiding (bush walking or mountain bike tours) or future employment at Wharncliffe Mill.
